The Kamado Joe BigJoe Black is unlike traditional barbecues in that the unique shape and natural ceramics retain head efficiently, yet controlling the temperature is is easy with just a few simple airflow adjustments. The Kamado Joe also acts as a self cleaning oven. After cooking simply open the vents and allow the grill to reach a temperature of 500F for 15 minutes. Beyond quality ceramics, the Kamado Joe bbq uses powder coating and meterials like 304 stainless steel and high density polyethylene features for weather resistant qualities. Other barbecue manufacturers use low grade steel and cypress wood. That would lead to your grill being rusty and the wood weathered in just a year or two.
In the end it's all about taste. One of the biggest advantages over gas grills is the pure smokey flavour of the Kamado Joe, not to mention the tenderness of the food. We only reccomend natural lump charcoal as a heat source. It's made from hardwood trees like oak, hickory and maple. Unlike briquettes that contain chemicals and fillers, natural lump charcoal lets the true flavour of your food come out.
