Our 10 x Leucojum - Aestivum Gravetye Giant flower bulbs will bloom in April to May to produce several white flowers with green tips per stem and are a superior version of the Summer Snowflake variety. You would be forgiven to mistake the gracious white bell-shaped flowers produced in the spring as large snowdrops, the giveaway is the Leucojum's taller height, later arrival and distinctive green spot at the end of each petal. Our Leucojum - Aestivum Gravetye Giant supplier has been selected due to the high standard of products supplied. The packs supplied are larger than that of other suppliers and this is because our packs have generally been designed for use in planting areas. Plant your Aestivum is small dumps, either in your garden or in grassland where they will thrive within dry and sandy soil. these plants will be grateful with the addition of compost or leaf mould in the ground to maintain moisture levels.

Hints and tips...

  • Unpack on arrival
  • Check order is correct and quality is as expected.
  • Store in a cool, dry and dark place with good air circulation.
  • Planting should be done as soon as possible.
Soil condition:
Soil should not be too wet and have good drainage but
should have good moisture retention as bulbs are not deep rooted.
Soil structure can be improved by adding course sand or well rotted
organic material. The ideal PH level is approximately 6.5.

fertilizer is not essential but a dressing of a high potash and phosphate
fertilizer such as bone meal or hoof and bone applied before planting
may be beneficial.

Planting:
As a rule of thumb bulbs should be planted at least two and a
half times the height of the bulb and far enough apart as not to touch
each other. Plant bulbs in small groups of 6-8 bulbs. It is preferable to
plant before the risks of frost so that rooting can take place quickly.
After rooting they are quite frost tolerant.

When planting in grass areas mowing should not take place until the
leaves have died off (about six weeks from planting.) Do not tie up or
knot the foliage as this cuts off food supply.

Caution:
Bulbs can be toxic and should not be eaten. Some types may cause
skin irritation therefore gloves should be worn.
