Pedal Go-kart Buying Guide
Pedal go-karts are popular youth toys that are great for racing and off-roading, and BERG is a favourite choice in outdoor toys. Instead of fuel, pedal cars use the power of feet, and they are perfect for keeping your kids active outdoors. This guide will help you navigate the wide range of sizes, colours, and styles, so you can buy the best one for your child. Shop all Pedal Go-karts >>
Pedal Go-kart Age Groups
Most pedal go-karts have adjustable parts, and all of them are suitable for a flexible range of ages.
|Age Range||Suitable For|
|10-30 months >>||Toddlers|
|2-5 years >>||Toddlers and small children|
|3-8 years >>||Children|
|4-12 years >>||Children and young teenagers|
|5+ years >>||Children and adults|
For small kids, sizes range from toddler up to 5 years old. These smaller designs have a somewhat limited period of use, but they are the best way to introduce young kids to go-karting. They also make a great investment for families planning to have two kids so that younger and older kids can play and race together.
Sizes for kids 3-8 years old and 4-12 years old offer a lot of versatility, allowing your child to grow with the go-kart. They have adjustable seats or adjustable steering wheels that give more leg room and seat room as your child gets bigger. These are ideal for kids who want a bigger kid's toy even though they are still too young.
Go-karts for kids 5 years old or more are actually big enough even an adult can ride them. Several come with a removable passenger seat making them a great two-seater option for parents and children.
Pedal Go-kart Colours
An easy choice to make is what colour go-kart to buy, and it is probably the most important choice according to your child. Luckily, they come in just about every colour of the rainbow, perfect for standing out during a race with friends. Red and blue are a couple of the most popular colours with both boys and girls, but orange and green are also a big hit. Black and pink are available for kids who like to be more unique.
Pedal Go-kart Accessories and Styles
Buggy racing is great fun, and you can add racing flags and safety lights to most orders as optional attachments for increased visibility. BERG's popular Buddy go-karts come with other add-ons as well, like a mountable siren and megaphone speaker with microphone. Tractor styles with a tow bar and junior trailer make it easy for you to work outdoors while your little gardener plays.
Some go-karts are great for racing on a smooth surface like pavement but not suited for rough ground. Off-road tyres typically have thicker tread, so they are more adaptable on muddy terrain. The X-cross is a fun hybrid off-road racer, and there are more styles available to match your child's favourite outdoor activities.
Licensed Pedal Go-karts
There is a range of licensed pedal cars available for kids who want a more grown-up experience. Jeep is the obvious choice for kids who want to go off-roading. The Fiat 500, BMW, and Ford Mustang will speed past all the competition. John Deere is a popular tractor supply. Look for other famous car brands and racing brands with their own licensed go-karts.
Pedal Go-kart Quality and Safety
Safety is a core value of BERG toys and their pedal go-kart team, so all of them are tested to meet and exceed the strict legal requirements for child safety. They all come with a standard brake, freewheel, and reverse mechanism, also known as the BFR system. This unique kid-friendly driving system allows triple control; the pedals can be used to move forward, brake, and then reverse after a full stop. In addition to the fast-stopping coaster brake standard with the BFR system, larger models have a hand brake for extra control. The BFR-3 system goes one step further, giving bigger karts a triple gear system for variable speed on hills.
BERG uses a thick stainless-steel frame with a smooth powder coating that offers long-lasting rust and impact resistance. The chain and pedals are firmly mounted to the frame, and the wheels have rubber tyres for durable performance. The swing axle keeps all four wheels grounded always, giving your great stability even on bumpy surfaces. BERG's 2-year warranty guarantees all their products are made to the highest standard of quality, so you can rest easily as your kids race off on their new go-karts.
How To Care For Your Pedal Go-kart
Care is easier than you might think. The high-quality craftsmanship from BERG takes a lot of maintenance out of your hands, but there are a few tips and tricks that will help keep your go-kart in top condition for many years beyond the manufacturer's guarantee. Always store them under a roof and out of the rain when not in use. A garage or garden shed is ideal, but a small garden furniture cover will work if storage space is limited. Just be sure to keep them off wet grass when not in use.
After a bit of mudding, off-road and farming go-karts can be rinsed off with a garden hose and mild soap if necessary. Use a tyre conditioner a couple of times each year to keep the rubber wheels pliable and UV resistant. Before storage, ensure the go-kart is completely dry by wiping it with a towel.
