FABRIC GARDEN FURNITURE
For the ultimate in comfort and style for your garden, look no further than the outdoor fabric ranges of patio furniture featuring all-weather sofas, dining sets, and loungers. Boasting the same kind of water-repelling textiles, like Sunbrella, used in the highest-quality parasols and marine upholstery, this innovative concept for garden furniture brings indoor comfort into your outdoor lounge. The best part is how easy it is to maintain; this furniture stays durable and quickly ready for use even if left unattended for years. Hotels and spas love these elegant styles for worry-free poolside seating. That same level of luxury is now more popular than ever and is quickly becoming a mainstay of British gardens.
Why buy outdoor fabric garden furniture?
Our Favourite All-weather Fabric Furniture
Outdoor Fabric Brands
As its name suggests, Sunbrella started by creating sun-resistant alternatives to traditional cotton awnings. After discovering a way to add UV-stabilised pigments to new acrylic fibres during the production process, outdoor fabric was born. This technology quickly became popular for marine use and evolved into the maintenance-free water-repellent fabric it is today. Most Sunbrella furniture comes in palettes of taupe and grey, making it a natural choice for wooden decking or patios coloured in granite, slate, sandstone, or York stone. As the demand for comfortable lounge furniture in the garden increases, other brands have stepped in to offer more choice in style than ever before.
How to clean fabric garden furniture
Outdoor fabric furniture is miraculously resistant to stains, mould, mildew, tree sap, animal droppings, and other environmental hazards, but it can still get dirty over time. For day-to-day care, simply brush off loose dirt with a soft bristle. Treat spills immediately by blotting them off with a clean towel. Pour an absorbent like corn starch on oil-based spills, and scrape off the excess after 10 minutes. For dried stains, use a solution of one-quarter cup mild soap per gallon of warm water and use a soft brush in a circular motion. Rinse off the furniture with a pressurised hosepipe. Always allow the fabric to air dry after, and never use a steam iron, which would melt the synthetic fibres.
After several years
For heavy-duty cleaning, a jet wash is the best option. Although mildew can't grow on the fabric, it can form on debris that has settled for an extended period. If a jet wash is not available, a bleach solution can be used. Outdoor fabrics are solution dyed, so they are resistant to staining from bleach; however, exercise caution as bleach can stain other surfaces and harm the environment. A chemical waterproofing agent is used on furniture during manufacture, but it will eventually wear off. After several years, this treatment can be reapplied with a product like Tex'Activ, which will restore the water beading effect.
