Konstsmide Connectable Lights Q&A
Frequently Asked Questions about Konstsmide Connectable Lights
Can I connect any other lights together with the Konstsmide connectable system?
No. Only the Konstsmide connectable range can be connected together and you do have to have the right series, so the code is the clue, for example if the code starts with a KMC-48, then all lights starting with that code will connect together, and codes KMC-46 will connect together but you cant mix the 46 with the 48 series. Whilst other manufacturers lights may look similar, they also make them differently and sometimes to a lesser standard and they are not interchangeable. Konstsmide connectable lights are 21v and are to IP44 standard
Can I leave them outside all year round?
Potentially you can, however this will greatly reduce the lifespan of the product. We wouldnt recommend leaving lights wrapped around tree trunks and branches as when the tree grows throughout the year, the cabling is stretched and damage will occur
Can the bulbs be changed?
This depends on the light set in question. We have a range of light sets where standard bulb replacements are available. However, with LED lights, the bulbs are tightly sealed to the cable providing resistance against moisture and extends longevity. These sets are made so that when one bulb goes, just only the one goes rather than a full string.
Whats the difference between Konstsmide Christmas lights compared to others on the market?
Konstsmide lights have the benefit of high quality large LEDs with superior seals, so the lights will stay brighter for longer and will not degenerate due to the seals. They will be last year after year, so a great investment.
Whats the difference between the connectable KMC-48 range and the KMC-46 range?
The Konstsmide LED 48 series of outdoor connectable Christmas lights is a 31V mains system that connects up to 1040 LEDs or 100 metres whilst using minimal energy consumption. This series has high quality LED diode bulbs that are sealed in a moulded casing and can run for up to 50 hours. The cable is a soft flexible cable perfectly suited for outdoor lighting or indoor lighting. The IP44 confirms they conform to the correct uk regulations for outdoor lighting.
The Konstsmide 46 series of outdoor lights is a range that is gradually being discontinued, but are still available for customers who already have these connectable lights and want to add more. These lights are 24V and a soft cable
Can ALL Konstsmide Christmas Lights go outdoors?
Many Konstsmide lights are manufactured for the outdoors and the IP44 rating confirms they are ok as water will not reach the electricals. The socket still needs to be placed indoors or in an outdoor weatherproof socket box. If it says indoor lighting on the listing and has no IP44 statement then they are to be used indoors only
What are LED lights?
LED stands for Light Emitting diode and these lights have become very widespread, especially for outdoor lighting. The reason they are successful for outdoor Christmas lights is the bulb has such small dimensions and the optic reflector in the plastic around the diode reflects the maximum light resulting in a very much brighter light than the traditional filament light.
You can expect LEDs to operate up to 50.000 hours, and the bulbs do not need to be replaced. The other benefit of LED lights is they are very economical to run.
