Gardener ''granted Gargoyle wish''

A resident in Basildon has requested a sculptor to create the ugliest gargoyles he could for his garden, it has emerged.
John Adamson received a strange request to deliberately create "ugly" gargoyles out of an old beech tree, according to the Telegraph & Argus.
The gargoyles are being used as planters but gardeners looking for something a little less grotesque could opt for a wooden planter or one of the Haddonstone variety.
"It is amazing how difficult it is to come up with something that is truly ugly. I try normally to make them agreeable but he wanted the gargoyles to be very ugly," the sculptor said.
The newspaper reported that one of the gargoyles only has "one eye" while another has been inspired by The Lord of the Rings.
Gargoyles first appeared in gothic architecture at the beginning of the 13th century and were designed to keep corrosive rain water off cathedrals, according to gargoylestatuary.com.
