The Royal Botanic Gardens in Kew was voted Britain''s top public garden in a recent survey, it has been reported.
According to the Telegraph, Kew was the clear winner and beat off the Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh in a poll by TripAdvisor.
Citing the attraction''s data, it was claimed that Kew attracted more than 1.4 million tourists this year and holds 96 per cent of UK plant life and over three-quarters of threatened UK plant species.
TripAdvisor''s Luke Fredberg, said: "Britain is fortunate in having such a rich heritage of public gardens."
Visitors to Kew may get tips for their own budget botanical garden at home and could start searching for spring flowering bulbs with a visit to an online garden centre.
Joe Barry, of the Irish Independent, recently embarked on a three-day tour of England''s public gardens and came home "filled with inspiration" for his own private patch.
