''Apply bulky organic mulch'' around climbers this month

Gardeners are being advised to apply bulky organic mulch around the base of trees, shrubs and climbers in November, it has been reported.
According to the Mirror, applying the mulch will help keep weeds down and ensure that the root area "stays moist" should conditions dry out again.
During this time of year, as climbers can start dying away, it could also be time to replace any wooden fence panels that have been damaged.
This month gardeners can also fill in gaps in borders with "small, pot-grown herbaceous perennials" that will make an impact in spring.
Any outdoor furniture should also be covered to reduce the amount of damage that may be caused during the winter months, it was advised.
Another suggestion for this month by the publications is to fit spiral rabbit guards to protect trunks and stems as rabbits could become a problem in many areas as mercury levels start to fall.
