Households that do not have to have a garden or allotment can still take part in the current drive toward organic gardening, according to the Soil Association.
A spokesperson from the group said that those without such amenities can use window boxes and products such as the Small IntaLogs Herb Wheel Wooden Planter to cultivate herbs and other organic produce.
According to the spokesperson, there are numerous places to grow your own vegetables and herbs and homeowners can use their initiatives or sign up to a Soil Association master class to find out more.
"There are lots of simple ideas like window boxes for lettuce or herbs and you would be amazed how much you can achieve in just an hour a week," she said.
It was also claimed that a lack of land should not be a barrier to organic gardening and those who have no garden and are finding it difficult getting on a waiting list for an allotment can also look out for "community allotment schemes, city farms and community supported agriculture projects".
