Pick late-season apples this week: RHS

The Royal Horticultural Society is recommending gardeners pick their late-season apples and pears this weekend.
Gardeners should finish picking pears as those left on the tree for too long will develop brownish cores, while late pear varieties such as the Doyenne du Comice may need to be stored for a month or more before eating, according to RHS advice published in the Telegraph.
The Planto Harvesting Bag could be the perfect product for such a job.
Its lightweight production and adjustable carrying handles can help ensure safety when climbing up and down ladders as it will allow gardeners to have both their hands free for picking their fruit.
Installed with a sturdy mesh, the apples and pears can even be washed directly in the bag.
The Doyenne du Comice is a popular dessert pear that was introduced from France in the 19th century, according to the BBC.
