Growing your own vegetables doesnt need to be hard and raised vegetable beds give gardeners the perfect way to create an instant veggie patch.
Internet Gardener also sells patio planters that provide an ideal environment to grow vegetables when people are short of space.
The Daily Mail has been providing its readers with a potted history of parsnips and said that before the potato came to these shores; the parsnip was much more of a staple part of the British diet due to its sweetness.
Gardeners are advised that parsnips grow best in a cool climate so would probably be the ideal vegetable for growing in the UK.
People should not grow them in greenhouses or cold frames, however, as the Daily Mail reported that the true sweetness of parsnips only develop after a frost has helped to convert their starch to sugar.
Vegetable patio planters from Internet Gardener may therefore provide the best environment to get the best from parsnips.
