Providing shelter for nesting birds

Birds need shelter in bad weather and require a protected place to roost at night and the white gothic nesting box from Internet Gardener provides the perfect place for them.
Gardeners can rest assured that squirrels and woodpeckers will not be able to get into the box as the entrance is protected with a copper surround.
The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) has suggested that there are also some natural habitats that birds will use for protection but the type of shelter they require depends on the species.
According to the RHS, birds such as collared doves and starlings normally prefer to roost in trees while many smaller birds prefer the dense branch structure provided by shrubs and hedges.
Birds seeking protection in cold winds will opt for conifers and evergreen shrubs which they can also nest in. Clematis, ivy and honeysuckle will also provide birds with good nesting sites.
For those that are not fortunate enough to have all these varying types of trees, bushes and plants in their garden can opt for the white gothic nesting box.
Not only does it guarantee shelter for birds, it is aesthetically pleasing as well with its intricate woodwork detail, white painted finish and verdigris cooper roof.
